We're back from a wonderful trip to Albany this weekend. In addition to being part of our Goodbye New England Tour, we got to see B's sister and her cute little baby belly!!! Not to mention their new house, which is lovely. That's how it goes, right? Have a baby... buy it a house! It absolutely breaks my heart that we won't be living close to them, but that's how long distance families work... you're always too far away from someone you love.
Right now we're far away from everyone we love, so at least in Nashville we'll be near some people, while still dealing with the separation of others. Thank god for technology. Between blogs, web cams, video cameras, and everything else, it makes it possible to live far away and still feel involved in people's lives. It's still hard though... life is easier when you live near your family.
But there's no time to feel sad right now... too much to do. Today B is suffering through work while dealing with a horrible cold that sprung out of a three day allergy attack. And I'm pricing the garage sale items while dealing with my own allergies. Having never run a garage sale before - let along a huge one - it's all feeling a little overwhelming. Thankfully my ex-coworker Dino Girl is helping out. I told her to take over as much as possible and just tell me what to do!
Since we find out on Friday the specifics of B's job offer, I'm trying to get as much done as possible. They said that ideally want him there in two weeks if everything gets approved during the Thursday meeting with corporate. If he pushed it to three weeks, we'd be moving the last weekend of September which is so soon!!!
Searching for a job and preparing to move across the country is far different from the reality that hits when you actually GET the job. When you're searching you know that it could happen at any time, but you're also preparing yourself to wait it out for another 4 months. Now I'm making mental lists of what has to happen when you move: get medical records, get pet records, shut off electricity, forward mail... what else am I forgetting??!
Hope your Labor Day weekend was a nice break and that you're getting ready for fall. The leaves are already starting to change around here, which is crazy. Can't wait to start making everything with apples and pumpkins!!

I, obviously, know exactly how you feel with the surreal experience of having yourself mentally prepared to be job hunting for months, only to find that you're actually moving THIS month. All I can say is, "I feel you."
Pet and medical records can easily be faxed, so don't bother with picking those up, if you're short on time (If? Ha!). Unless they have films (meaning, x-rays, MRIs, CT scans)...those you'll want to take with you. But not dental, just medical (e.g., your back?).
Do you need to shut off water or gas? Internet/cable? Land line? Can't forward your mail yet... That's all I can think of for now.
Good luck on the yard sale! Post pics!
