Great advice... not from me

You know all that stuff that you wish you had been told growing up?  That guidance you needed when you were in your 20s and flailing your way through life?  It's such a shame that no one ever tells you that.  My guess is because you need to get the advice from the rare combination of someone who is older, wiser, and not your parent.  I didn't have anyone during my 20s that fit that bill, so I make it a point to take any young 20-something under my wing.

When it comes to my own life I operate almost exclusively on instinct, so I'm not that talented at spouting out grand proclamations as to what one should do to make a life run more smoothly.  Most of my knowledge lives in the land of indefinable gut feeling so I'm always so impressed when someone is able to really articulate advice in a clear and meaningful way.

To that end, here are two links guaranteed to make your life a little clearer.  Some I want to frame and hand out to various people, and some I want to frame and hand out to myself.

I started reading your blog because of G's weekly article and it's part of my google reader. I just want to say, and I hope this isn't weird, that I really enjoy your thoughts, especially when you shared the Bob Dylan quote. I find your posts very insightful and intriguing. And today, I needed both of these links. Thanks for your thoughtful glimpses into life!

To this I would like to add Cassie Boorn's project that focus on letters to yourself at a different time in your life (like "a letter to my 20 year old self"). It's pretty awesome and apparently she's gotten a huge response so she'll be posting tons of them.

I literally just decided yesterday to forgive myself for not knowing some crucial information in my teens and 20s that would have saved me a lot of time and headaches from the mess I created for myself. Very timely post, Scarlet!
