Picking out the tree

B put off studying for finals Sunday to have a little family holiday time.  We picked out a tree, had a great Italian lunch, and then went grocery shopping for the week.  It was all going so smoothly until she wouldn't nap, the tree was crooked, the salmon was mealy, and she still wouldn't nap.  So the plan to have a lovely Sunday putting up Christmas decorations went to shit, but such is life. We decided that next year we shouldn't plan to buy the tree and decorate the house on the same day - not when you can't account for the potential chaos of a toddler. Somehow, no matter how hard we try, we can't ever seem to complete a project in just one day.

The tree eventually got straightened out and I'll put up the decorations myself throughout the week or we can do it on Friday when B is done with the biggest final. The first part of the day was still really nice.

Remember the rocks? As soon as she realized she was standing in a field of rocks, she ripped her sock-mittens off, braved the 30 degree temps and the icy wind and dove in.
